My Journey to Becoming an RD
How did you become a dietitian? What inspired your path? Any personal or professional turning points?
I was overweight growing up and turned to food to deal with things. In high school, I started making healthier choices about what I ate and how I lived, which helped me lose weight and get on the path to feeling great. I realized that making these changes on my own was tough, and I wished I had additional support. That’s when I decided to become a dietitian, so I can help others who are going through something similar to what I did.
My Nutrition Philosophy
What do you believe about food, health, and behavior change? What principles guide your care?
“I believe that food plays a unique role in our lives, as it is not simply just for nourishment, but also a part of deep traditions in our families and cultures. The important thing is that we respect and honor foods and understand that while all foods fit into our lives, some foods have their time and place and that must be respected.
Who I Work With
Describe your ideal client population. Do you have any specialties or preferred areas of focus?
“I work with adults who are trying to navigate their weight loss journey. I like to work with people who are motivated to make changes to their health and willing to put in the effort to improve their lifestyles. Another area of interest is sports nutrition; helping athletes to perform at the top of their game. I also help men to addres their metabolic health and improve overall body composition.”
My Style as a Dietitian
How do clients describe your approach? List 3–5 adjectives and elaborate briefly.
My approach is to review all aspects of one’s lifestyle when considering goals and behavioral changes. I like to keep my sessions open and collaborative. I typically start by reviewing what science tells us, but finding a happy medium between that and where we are starting, in order to create a realistic plan.
What You Can Expect from Working With Me
What kind of experience do you offer? What do you hope clients walk away with?
When someone works with me, I want them to feel confident that they have the support they need to achieve their goals. I hope my clients walk away with a clear path forward that is both practical and realistic for their unique lifestyle.
